Tree Pose
Vrksasana
A calm balancing pose, taken one easy step at a time. Find a quiet spot with a wall or chair nearby, and don't worry about a few wobbles, they're all part of it.
6 gentle steps · about a minute
Stand tall
Begin in a steady standing pose. Feet together, weight spread evenly through both feet, shoulders soft and low.
Breathe in slowly, and let it out.
Find a still point
Choose one spot in front of you that isn't moving and rest your eyes there. A steady gaze makes balancing far easier.
Soft eyes, easy breath.
Root one foot
Shift your weight onto your left foot. Press it gently into the floor and keep a soft bend in the knee.
Feel steady before you move on.
Lift your right foot
Rest the sole against your inner calf or inner thigh, never on the side of the knee. Keep a hand on a wall or chair if you would like support.
No rush. Steady and kind.
Hands to your heart
Bring your palms together at your chest. Lengthen up through the crown of your head and keep your breath even.
In through the nose, slow out.
Reach up, if you're steady
If you feel balanced, float your arms up like branches. Stay for a few calm breaths, then lower with care and try the other side.
Grow tall, and breathe.
Beautifully done.
