Cobra Pose
Bhujangasana
A gentle, lifting backbend. Lift only as far as feels easy, and let your back, not your arms, do the work.
4 gentle steps · about a minute
Lie face down
Lie on your front with your legs back and the tops of your feet on the floor.
Settle and breathe.
Place your hands
Bring your hands under your shoulders and hug your elbows in close to your body.
Ground your hands and feet.
Lift your chest
Press the tops of your feet and thighs down and slowly lift your chest, keeping your shoulders away from your ears and a soft bend in your elbows.
Rise on the breath in.
Hold, then lower
Stay for a breath or two, lifting only as far as is comfortable, then lower down slowly and rest.
Soft and easy.
Gently does it.
That is Cobra Pose. A kind way to strengthen the back and open the chest. Here is Michelle in the full pose.
Good for: Strengthens the back, opens the chest and improves spinal mobility.
